Booking Information

Although we like to respond personally to every inquiry, we may not be able to do that.  Thank you for your understanding and for your interest in this event.

Event Description

The Houston Women's Festival is held each fall and features emerging and established female soloists and women-fronted bands. Like most women's festivals, the event has a strong lesbian following; however all friends of the women's community are welcome to participate and attend.

Among the acoustic guitar soloists, we like to feature duos and trios, keyboard players, fiddle players, etc. For logistical reasons, we limit the number of full bands to two or three per line-up. We do not book boy bands, children, solo percussionists, spoken-word artists (including comediennes), or women who mainly sing about men. Here is what we look for when booking the festival:

Daytime Sets

  • Texas-based or touring artists, preferably with name recognition in this area
  • Good press kit with an interesting bio and a quality black-and-white photo
  • Active mailing list (willing and able to alert fans about the event)
  • Recommended by other producers or music lovers
  • Artists with at least one CD and a web site

Nighttime Sets

  • Has or is touring nationally
  • Has an impressive press kit with excellent publicity photos
  • Able to provide promotional posters or other publicity materials
  • Able to provide at least one good color photo for the local paper

Enjoying the Event

The Houston Women's Festival is a one-day event that is more like a party than a formal concert. The stages are outdoors, and they are covered.  We pay professional sound crews to provide the best possible sound and lights.  We want to attend to all of the artists' needs while they are with us; however, we look for artists who are flexible and agreeable. We have a number of acts and we want to stay on schedule. Note: we don't pay for travel.

Attendance

The event averaged 1406 ticket buyers per year from 1999 to 2002.  In addition, another 300 people are in attendance as vendors, volunteers, musicians, visual artists, guests and media.

Contact Us

We book very few unsolicited acts and would like to have all talent booked by March.  If you feel that you and our event are a good match, tell us why.  The festival is held each fall (September or October) and we like to have the line-up finalized by June.  You may contact us at: Booking@hwfestival.org
